Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurological disease that affects the central nervous system. While MS has historically been perceived as affecting predominantly white populations, growing research demonstrates that Black/African American individuals often experience more aggressive disease progression and disability outcomes.
Despite these realities, men of color remain underrepresented in awareness campaigns, support networks, and culturally responsive programming.
BAMS was created to address this unmet need by building a brotherhood-centered support organization specifically designed for men of color navigating MS.
